How to keep skin hydrated

the importance of beauty sleep

Hydrated skin is healthier skin all round.  Having your skin’s hydration at an optimal level will minimise fine lines and wrinkles. Your skin will appear more glowy and your complexion will be more even toned.  Here are some tips to help keep your skin hydrated that you can start today.  Your skin will thank you!

Hydrate from the inside out

The easiest way to keep skin hydrated is to increase your water consumption.  If you struggle to drink water, try adding lemon, mint or cucumber to it.  Additionally, hydrate from the inside out by adding fruits and vegetables into your diet that have a high water content.  They will increase your skin’s moisture levels at a cellular level.  Fruits like apples, oranges, cucumber, grapes and watermelon all have a high water content and contain antioxidant properties too.

Reduce water temperature

This is easier in the warmer months, however, as the weather changes and it gets colder outside, try to resist having hot showers, or using hot water on your face.  This can dehydrate the skin, leaving it tight, itchy and irritated.  Reduce the water temperature in the shower and if you’re washing your face at the skin, use warm water rather than hot.

Change up your skincare products

It’s important to change up your skincare products with the seasons.  This is because your skin’s needs change throughout the year.  You might find that your skin needs something like the VITAL C hydrating facial oil in the winter months.  This helps to restore your skin’s moisture levels with the blend of oils including avocado, grapeseed, argan, sea buckthorn and more.

The VITAL C hydrating overnight masque works at night while you sleep, bringing radiance back to the skin while hydrating it effectively.  The lightweight gel absorbs into your skin quickly, locking in hydration and nutrients to the skin.

Adding the VITAL C hydrating repair creme to your skincare routine means that you’ll be adding hyaluronic acid, ceramides and vitamins to the skin, helping to hydrate and soothe it.

If you’re unsure as to what products your skin needs as the seasons change, book in for a consultation at your local IMAGE Skincare clinic.  Here, your therapist will assess your skin thoroughly, prescribing you the best products to ensure you get maximum results.
